Job Description:

A full-time permanent vacancy has arisen within our Health and Safety Department. Working: Monday to Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm

Primary Purpose of Position

The role of the SHE/Compliance Officer is to make sure that a company is conducting its business in full compliance with national and international law and regulations that pertain to the business needs. In addition, the role is to support other departments with the collection of appropriate compliance data.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and improve the SHE management system in compliance with environmental legislation, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Glenair Safety codes of practice and other compliance requirements.
  • Monitor SHE/Compliance & Risk strategies, policies and programmes that promote sustainable development.
  • Manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, risk assessments, management systems and delivery of all SHE/Compliance activities in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of SHE/Compliance Operational risks recommending changes where appropriate and ensure that practices which are potentially hazardous are brought to the attention of management.
  • Monitor the investigation of accidents and review accidents and statistics pertaining to such with the management so that corrective action may be applied and assessed for health, safety and the environment.
  • Auditing, analysing and collating SHE/Compliance performance data and using information to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that there are suitable emergency procedures and equipment in place for dealing with emergencies such as fires and spillages.
  • Participate in Safety inspections and audits according to timetables.

Job Requirements:

Person Specification

  • Extensive knowledge of effective SHE management strategies and best practice, is desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of current health, safety and environmental legislation and its application, is desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a SHE role within a manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Detailed understanding and proven capability in environmental legislation and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is desirable.
  • Experience of communicating effectively, verbally and in writing to senior managers and writing report is essential.
