Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Position

To be responsible for the Manufacturing of Mould Tools; jigs and fixtures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Effective operation of CNC Millers/ CNC Lathes and CAM software
Produce jigs and fixtures to aid production cells through the business.
To work from engineering drawings to produce and/or modify injection mould tools
To work from engineering drawings and requests to supply parts of a suitable quality and functionality to satisfy project manufacture of trial and conceptual development components.
Effective operation if required of manual machines such as millers, lathes and surface grinders in the role of benchman
Effective operation if required of EDM CNC Wire Eroders, Spark Eroders and Fast Hole drilling machines
To identify tooling requirements
To function test, evaluate and document all component trials and development.
Identify and solve Mechanical/Manufacturing issues in the current product range in conjunction with Inspection and Design departments, as required
General Knowledge of Injection Moulding
To have an understanding of the Works Order administration system
To carry out routine maintenance, housekeeping duties

Job Requirements:

Person Specification

Time served apprenticeship or a HND in Mechanical Engineering is essential
Experience in toolmaking and toolmaking machining techniques
Conversant with all traditional machining and fitting practices
Able to work to tight deadlines

Working hours: 40 hours per week.

After’s: Monday – Thursday 2:00pm – 12:30am (24%)

Nights: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00pm – 5:00am, Thursday, 6pm – 3am (36%)

The successful applicant will be required to work a regular day shift at the beginning of their employment to fully gather knowledge of Glenair policy, procedure and working practices
